How do I get there?

We are currently meeting at the Windsor Locks Senior Center, 41 Oak St., Windsor Locks.  It is located off of Route 159 (Main St) in Windsor Locks.  Use the link below to get driving directions.

Do you offer childcare?

The River Valley Lil' Lites Nursery is designed to care for and nurture your child in the earliest years of his or her life (infants to age 4).
Helpful Guidelines
The Nursery is open 15 minutes before the start of the Worship Service.  When your child arrives at the Nursery the adult Nursery Leader will be there to meet you.  If you are a first time visitor, you will be asked to fill out an information form so we can get to know you and your child.   You will need to check in your child and any necessary bags each week.

Please note that we will release a child from the Nursery only to the person who signed in the child.  This is for the safety of you and your child.  Please plan accordingly.

Children should be picked up soon after the close of the service.

Please include in your diaper bag the following items:
  • A complete change of clothes in case your child requires a change (infant to 2 years).
  • If your child is bottle fed, please include a bottle.
  • Extra disposable diapers.
  • Please label anything your child may use for comfort or security.
Separation Anxiety

Separation anxiety is a common situation for children of nursery age.  Some children may cry when you leave them in our care.  Most become settled within a few minutes of your departure.  We find that it is easiest on the children if their parents leave quickly and return only when it is time to pick them up.  If your child continues to cry and our efforts to comfort them fail, we will notify you.  If this is the case, you may stay with your child in the nursery or you may decide to take your child with you.

Child Health Standards

We want to provide a healthy environment in our nursery, so we ask you to keep your child at home when you observe any of the following:

Fever/Vomiting
Diarrhea
Questionable rash or skin eruptions
Communicable disease
Pink eye, or discharge in or around the eyes
Green or yellow runny nose
Persistent coughing

Snacks

The only snack we provide for your older children is Cheerios; the only drink we offer is water.  Any other snack you want your child to have, you must provide.

What should I expect in church?

Here at River Valley we want your worship experience to be the best hour of your week.  The goal of our worship is to lead you into the presence of God so you can treasure him with both your heart and your mind.  We want to inspire you and teach you how to live out your worship of God in your everyday life.

Music – We primarily sing contemporary praise and worship songs, though we include a traditional hymn (or two) as part of many services.  The worship team is a combination of keyboards, guitar and drums.  We encourage people to sing along.  Do what feels comfortable to you.

Message – The messages are relevant to life today.  You won’t walk away from the service wondering what the pastor said; it will be clear.  We take the teachings of the Bible and turn them into challenges for daily living – challenges that will lead you to a deeper understanding and relationship with God, challenges that will help you live a better life.

Order of Service – We hand out a bulletin each week that gives an easy to follow outline of the order of the service.  You can refer to it and know what’s coming next.  The bulletin also has an outline of the message for the week.

Here is the standard order of service we use:
  • Welcome by the Pastor
  • Stand and sing a few songs
  • Children and teens are led out for their time of learning
  • Announcements, welcome one another;  etc.
  • Stand and sing a few songs
  • Short time of prayer
  • Message (25-30 minutes)
  • Giving Back to God – everyone fills out a Response Card; plates are passed and you put the Response Card in; members and regular attendees give money to support the ministry of the church; visitors are not expected to give – we want you to receive before you decide to give.
  • Closing, with invitation to stay for refreshments

What should I wear?

We care more about meeting your real life needs than with what you wear.  We offer a casual and relaxed atmosphere, so just come dressed however you feel comfortable – from jeans to khakis or slacks. If you like wearing a suit or a dress, do it.  You’re likely to see all of the above on any given Sunday.  So just be yourself.

How can I get involved?

There are various ways to get involved at River Valley Fellowship Church.  Come to our Family Night, participate in one of our outreach events, start attending a Sunday morning or Midweek Growth Group, become a prayer partner and/or join us on Friday night for a Prayer Meeting, women can attend a Monday Night Bible Study, see Pastor Ed about finding a place to volunteer in the church, etc.

What’s available for my kids?

Our goal every week is to provide a safe, fun place for our kids to learn and grow.

Lil' Lites Nursery (infant to 4 years) – We have qualified people to care for your baby and children. On your first visit you will need to fill out a form for us so we can better care for your child; each week you will have to sign your child in and out of the nursery.  Please note that the same person who signs the child in must also sign the child out, so plan accordingly.

Firefly Ministry (age 5 - 6th grade) – We use Gospel Light teaching material.

Teen Torch Ministry (Jr. and Sr. High) – We use "Fuel" materials. Innovative and biblical teen teaching materials.

Children and Teens are led out of the service after the first set of worship songs for engaging biblical  teaching at their level.
